King USA is defeated

Team USA fell to a Jamaican team that neutralized their ofence. Even though the US team was close to scoring on many ocations, they lacked speed which Mr. Klinsman was unable to remedy. The Jamaican team was more ofensive and was fast. In the last minutes the Jamaican coach replaced a striker with a defender making the Jamaican defence even stronger. This the first time that Jamaica makes it to the Gold Cup final. The other team that may face Jamaica could be either Mexico or Panama which will be decided soon after the USA VS Jamaica match.

The national stadium at last sees Football games with large support taking into consideration that this is a baseball loving country but with a strong growing Football craze which is taking over the small nation.

There were many surprises in the past rounds of the Caribbean Cup, due to the good performance of teams like Saint Kits and Antigua and Barbuda which each defeated what were seen as a stronger teams like the Dominican Republic which was placed 5th at the last Caribbean Cup. The Caribbean Cup this time around  will provide the 5th place team a chance to battle the 5th place team from the Central American Cup, for a chance to go to the Concacaf Gold Cup, and a chance to go to the World Cup 2018.

A More Experienced Dominican Team

Almost three years ago at Cuscatlan Stadium the Salvadoran Football team defeated in a contested game a less experienced Dominican team with a score of 3 to 2 and erased all Dominican  hopes of advancing to the next stages for the  first time ever. On Saturday the 30th of August these two teams will face each other in a game that Dominican fans consider a chance to get even. Since the last two games were very contested the match on Saturday may prove to be a very evenly matched one since the Salvadoran team will be a very different one from that of 3 years ago with many young local players. On the other hand the Dominican team is the same one albeit with more experience.

Racism in Football

Much has changed since the old days, when football fans would touch Pele’s skin and smell it to verify if he was indeed of African descent, and not an impostor. Last week when an expectator at a stadium threw a banana at Brazilian Barcelona Football player Dany Alves, we were reminded that much must be done to eradicate racism that is still alive in the so called first world countries. The person that threw the banana at Alves was banned from VillaReal’s stadium for life which is a step in the right direction, and at least in Spain, fans will think twice before committing racist acts at sport venues.

Dominican Republic VS Indonesia

The Dominican Republic will face Indonesia at the Manahan stadium in Surakarta In Central Java on the 15th of this month of May, in what may be the only friendly game before the Dominican Republic faces other nations at  the Caribbean Cup next September. It is rumored that the Indonesian team will be made up of mostly U23 Football players from this densely populated Asian nation,  that ranks 152nd according to the FIFA world ranking. The Dominican Republic currently is ranked  126th, in part due to a lack of official games since the last friendly game against Costa Rica in 2013 was not taken into consideration due to mistakes on the part of the Dominican Football Federation’s lack of preparation, such as wrong lettering on uniforms worn by the Dominican players among other mistakes.

Mexico VS New Zealand

The day has arrived when Mexico will prove whether the metamorphosis it went through, was what it needed in order to put its bad performance of the last year in the past. Missing are the Mexican players that play in European teams due to their low performance and the Mexican coach “El piojo” Herrera will rely instead on his former America FC players. New Zealand which is missing its captain and star player for this game at the Azteca stadium will no doubt give it it’s all in order to beat Mexico at their own turf. The match will be held at Mexico City’s Azteca stadium at 3:30 PM EST.

!Mexico Revives!

Mexico beat a modest Finnish team 4-2 for Herrera’s first official win with the Mexican team, and therefore demonstrated that the team is recovering some of their former luster. The rebuilt Mexican team seems to have what it needs to beat a weak New Zealand team and gain the needed ticket for the world cup.  The New Zealand team which lost to the national team from the UAE 2-0, and barely tied with Trinidad and Tobago 0-0 recently seems to have their work cut out for them against the Mexicans in their next game on November the 13th.

Third Place Stolen From The Dominican U20 Team

It was suddenly announced that the third place qualification was taken from the Dominican Republic, and given to the Cayman Islands home country of the president of Concacaf, which created a wave of anger and disbelief in the Caribbean Football community and not only in the Dominican Republic which was directly affected by the arbitrary decision. The Dominican Republic passed to the U20 women’s quarterfinals for the Caribbean Football Union, by defeating Cuba 2-1, and by way of a better goal difference since Cuba was defeated 5-1 by Jamaica giving the Dominican Republic the third place of the group. The Dominican Republic’s Football Federation known as Fedofutbol will be filing an official complaint in regards to the sudden decision.
