Real Madrid’s woes

Besides the rumors about Cristiano Ronaldo not being happy at the team Real Madrid which at the moment stands at the 9th place of La Liga, may have a hard time catching with Barcelona, which is at the top of the table. It seems like the act of bringing Modric to Real Madrid may be to alleviate the pressure on Mourinho to do something about the sleepy team.

9/5/12

Dominican Republic reaches new heights

The small nation has been making strides in the world of Football thanks to their talented Footballers the pressure being put on the Dominican federation on the part of Dominican football fans whom are becoming ever demanding. The recent surge is also due to the better than usual outcomes like the great job done by the Dominican U20 team in their past qualification matches in which they were undefeated but eliminated to not gaining the needed points. Also it should be noted that the national team did a great job in the World Cup qualification matches which in the end they were again unable to make enough points. ! Keep up the good work, and good luck in the Digicel Caribbean Cup!

8/23/12

Caribbean Cup 2012

More details concerning the Dominican Republic's group placement in the CFU Digicel Caribbean Cup have surfaced calming the nerves of Dominican fans whom thought  that the DR was not going to participate  just as this humble servant did. The DR which will bring a strong team of international players, will have the chance to get even with Dominica, whose team eliminated them at the last Caribbean Cup.

8/16/12

In a game where the puerto ricans played very defensively, and spain was expected to sweep puerto rico, the spaniards were miraculously held back .  Cazorla and Cesc scored for spain and Cintron will go down in puerto rican football history as the first Puerto Rican to score against spain. Puerto Rico's goal keeper Gaudette did an impressive job defending his colors against the world champions.

8/10/12

Dominican Republic to miss Digicel cup

There is a posibility that the DR has dropped out of the most important competition in the caribbean. If this is true then the next time dominican fans will see their national team play may be in the far future. This acts only shows the ineptitude of the dominican football federation.

7/30/12

7/11/12

Haiti; lord of the Caribbean

Haiti which stands at the 4th place of the Concacaf rating scale decisively defeated the Dominican Republic 3-1 in a U17 qualification game at Silvio Cator Stadium. The Dominican U17 team which did not play friendly matches against any significant international opponent was ill prepared to face the well trained Haitian team. With few exceptions, the Dominicans whom did not have a good control of the ball, were not comfortable passing the ball to their team mates either, and therefore were no match to the playing style of the Haitians. It is up to the Dominican fans to demand of the federation a better established a serious training before they send teams to face other international teams.

Dominican players in Concacaf Champions League

The Dominican Republic which is seen a growth  in the number of Football players playing abroad, can be consoled by the fact that even though they have no Football teams representing the nation at the ConcaChampions, at least they will be able to watch three Dominican Football players in the competition. Those players are Jonathan Fana and Cesar Garcia “Danco” with the Puerto Rican Islanders, and Victor “El Mambo Nunez” with Costa Rica’s Herediano Sport Club.

5/10/12

Atletico Madrid wins Eurocup

Atletico Madrid defeated Athletic Bilbao 3-0 in a game in which the Colombian Falcao gave it his all from the beginning, and scored twice for the Madrid team. The Madrid team which was on a winning streak, proved to be too much for the Bilbao team to handle in a game where the Basque team had a little bit of more possession of the ball, and more shots at the arch which meant nothing in the end.

5/4/12

Mexico VS Brazil

Mexico should have no issues defeating Wales on the 27th of May and Bosnia on the 31st, the match that fans will be counting the days for, will be Mexico’s match against Brazil in Arlington, Virginia, USA. Mexico returns from very successful campaigns in the Gold Cup, the pre Olympics and much more and “El Chepo” is looking to keep the winning streak going for the Aztecs.

Brazil Vs Denmark

This match will be watched by millions of fans around the world of which of course Brazil will be the favorite with Neymar at the front, but appearances can be deceiving because Denmark is no team to belittle. Denmark has only lost to Russia in the last six months and is ranked 9th in the world as far as Football goes. Brazil is up ahead in the 6th place.

England VS Norway

In this match in which England is considered a stronger team, the Norwegians will have the advantage of playing at home in Oslo. The English team is under pressure to win this match, due to the fact that they lost their match in February against the Netherlands while Norway has won their two last games at the beginning of the year, against Northern Ireland and Thailand. Good luck to both.

Germany VS Switzerland

The match for Switzerland against Germany which will take place in Basel, will be a tough one due to the fact that the German national team is in great shape, so good actually that it is ranked 2nd in the world and Switzerland is ranked 18th which is still nevertheless a good position.

Spain VS Serbia

The Spanish national team will be facing Serbia on the 26th of this month of May in ST. Gall. As we all know Spain which is the reigning world champion is the world favorite to win this match and the pressure is on them to show how much superior they are to a Serbian team that is ranked 32nd in the FIFA world ranking.

No Football club from the DR at the CFU Champions league

It’s hard to believe that there is no Football club representing the Dominican Republic at the Caribbean Football Union Champions league, when two teams from Guyana were entered into the competition just as an example. Guyana happened to have had no Football league matches during 2011. Whether it was the fault of the club owners, or the fault of the Dominican Football Federation it is a regrettable mishap that should not continue to happen. The only consolation will be that a greater number of Dominican Football players have signed up with teams in Puerto Rico, as is the case with forward Jonathan Fana and defender Cesar Garcia with the PR Islanders. Other Dominican players have signed up with teams in Panama as Lloyd did with Arabe United FC and Haiti which will mean that they will gain more experience in regional tournaments.

5/2/12

Real Madrid wins La Liga

Real Madrid beat Athletic Bilbao 3-0 to finally take their place as the kings of Spanish football. 4/26/12

Real Madrid eliminated

The Spanish team which kept the flame going for the Spaniards was defeated through penalties at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. Real Madrid had dominance of every aspect of the game but eventually begins loosing control and started focusing instead on individual plays and kickbacks. Kaka, Ramos and Ronaldo were the culprits of this great mishap by missing their kicks, but Mourinho also carries some fault, by not making changes after the half time. Schweinsteiger made the penalty kick that define the game in favor of Bayern Munich.

4/25/12

Barcelona defeated, now what?

With the defeat that Barcelona suffered at the hands of the mighty Chelsea all that is left for the Blaugrana team is to console themselves with having won the Clubs world Cup and winning the Copa Del Rey. Guardiola speaks highly of his team and specially Messi and recognizes that “they can’t win it all”. Now its all in the hands of Real Madrid to win the Champions for Spain.

4/24/12

Barcelona VS Chelsea, !Lets try it again!

Today Barcelona will prove once and for all whether they are truly the best club on earth. This game may also help Guardiola whether he should stay or leave the Blaugrana team. The odds are against Barsa and fans all over the world are nervous awating for the game that may end it all.

Barcelona Under Great Pressure

Barcelona is under great pressure and this could be one of the reasons as to why they lost to Real Madrid. Another reason and this is one that’s been going around, is that using Tello and Thiago whom have little experience facing teams of this caliber under so much pressure was not a wise idea, but then to be fair Valdes failed when needed the most. The entire team did awful, with the exception of Alexis Sanchez whose goal gave some hope to the team. Hopefully for them they’ll get their issues solved before the game against Chelsea and Guardiola won’t try weird player combinations.

4/20/12

The Devil's work

The president of the Dominican Football Federation Osiris Gusman continues doing his devilish work, this time by not signing the paperwork necessary for Cesar Garcia popularly known as Danco to be able to play with the Puerto Rico Islanders. The certificate of international transfer or CIT must be released in order for a player to play in another FIFA league.

Barcelona VS. Real Madrid Super Classic

The great world classic between Barcelona and real Madrid will be tomorrow at Camp Nou for La Liga, and the whole world will be watching. After Barcelona’s loss to Chelsea and Real Madrid’s loss to Munich both teams have shown that they have much soul searching to do, if they are to entertain and perform for the thousands of fans that will gather at Camp Nou. The match will be shown at 14:00 or 2:00 PM Eastern Standard Time or 20:00 Spain.

4/18/12

Las Chivas looses 4-0 to Deportivo Quito

It could not be worse for Las Chivas whom have had a bad season at home, and now lost miserably at Copa Libertadores and was eliminated.
Hugo Hernandez had a very busy day defending his arch, from the relentless Ecuadorean attacks and to make matters worse they even had Jorge Henriquez kicked out of the game.

Real Madrid lost 2-1

It was expected to be a tough game for Real Madrid but no one could have seen this coming. The Merengue team was defeated 2-1 right at the end of the game therefore giving them no chance to recover. Ribery scored at minute 17 for Munich and Ozil for real Madrid at minute 53. Between the mistakes made by Ramos and the explosive offensive by Ribery and Robben, it was a matter of time for Madrid to fall once again at the Allianz. In the end it was Mario Gomez whom annihilated Madrid for the 2-1.

4/17/12

Chelsea dreams of defeating Barcelona

Tomorrow the “Cule” team will be facing Chelsea in the Euro Cup Finals, in a game in which the Blues believe that they have what it takes to defeat the Azulgrana team according to Frank Lampard. The Blues will need all that they have to face Barcelona, because despite defeating the Spurs they have not had a very good season in their league, at which they stand at sixth place.

Real Madrid VS. Bayern Munich

Real Madrid will face Bayern Munich in the much awaited classic, in the semifinal games for the Euro Cup title at the Allianz Arena. Real Madrid will try to bury their past failures, in their past attempts at the Euro Cup in which they were vanquished eight times. Mounrinho has all the firepower at his disposal and this fact strengthens his already high confidence that he can defeat Bayern Munich.

4/13/12

The independence cup

It is the hope of the Dominican Football fans that it will be a better organized tournament than the failed Coca Cola Liga Mayor, which can’t even be compared to the closing season or “ Torneo Clausura  as it is known in other Football playing nations of America. The failure of the Coca Cola Liga Mayor is due to many reasons; one of those reasons is the fact that due to the lack of coordination, the majority of provincial and private football teams refused to play under such conditions as; bad state of the football fields, lack of support for the provincial teams and a lack of public recognition for last years Tournament champions Moca F.C, which still has not received from the federation their trophy. Hopefully the independence cup will be the start of a new way of managing Football tournaments in the Dominican Republic.

4/11/12

Real Madrid is king

Even though Atletico Madrid gave it their all, and at the begining even seemed as if they were going to be able to at least maintain a tie, they were beaten 4-1. This outcome makes the possibility that Barcelona may win La Liga, a bit more difficult.

Real Madrid's greatest fear

Who would have thought that Barcelona would be this close behind Real Madrid during this season? Not even Guardiola whom thought that it was almost impossible. Today Barcelona could get even closer, if for some reason Real Madrid ties and hey; why not they could even lose. All the pressure is on Real Madrid, which will make for a juicy match.

4/7/12

Barcelona sweeps Zaragosa 4-1

The begining of the game saw Zaragosa playing well against a Barcelona, in which Messi was not doing much. Zaragosa is close to relegation therefore they played with heart at the begining, specially the first half.Barcelona found their groove and took a hold of the game specially, when  Zaragoza lost a player
Due to two yellow cards and their first goal. Messi found himself and scored two goals, one of them by way of a penalty commited against Alexis Sanchez.

4/6/12

Little support

Although Dominican Football players have proved to be talented, they receive little or no support from the Dominican Football Federation, which does not even arrange for friendly matches.  The last and most recent friendly match was played against the island of Curacao. The federation does not even arrange for the national team, nor Football Clubs to participate in regional competitions.

4/5/12

UEFA Champions league semifinals

Enthusiasm builds up as the teams that will dispute the UEFA Champions league fill up the ranks. Real Madrid whose Mourinho claims that he does not concern about Barsa, but about Bayern Munich whom they will face after defeating Apoel 5-2 now twice without complications. Chelsea defeated Benfica 2-1 and also dreams of defeating the Cule team at the Champions League, but of course what most fans would like to see is a final between the eternal rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona.

4/3/12

Mexico beats Honduras 2-1

It was a much contested game which had to go into extra time, in order for the game to be untied. Honduras was the first team to score at minute 47, and Mexico tied at minute 75 and what followed was a fierce game. Honduras saw two red cards against them. The Mexican team scored at minute 115 of extra time to be crowned as Champions of the Pre Olympics. Honduras made many changes to their team in order to face Mexico, as in the introduction of Andy Najar whom was a great addition to the team, and whom did not play against El Salvador.

3/31/12

Honduras beats El Salvador 3-2

It was a grueling yet exciting game in which Honduras thanks to Gerson Rodas, gave his country a pass to London Olympic games. El Salvador never gave up but this was not enough to beat the Catrachos.

3/29/12

Mexico VS El Salvador

This is the game that most fans want to see, due to the fact that these have been the teams that have shown their “garras” or claws in the field, by staying away from mostly individual plays and by exercising good handling of the ball. If Honduras plays the same way they played against Mexico then Los Cuscatlecos should have no issues beating the Catrachos.

Canada VS Mexico

After their 0-0 draw with El Salvador and 1-1 draw with Cuba, it seems that Canada does not have much to offer in the match against a better prepared Mexican team, that is a favorite and will surely send the Canadians packing. This game will be more of a warm up for the Mexicans before they face stronger teams like El Salvador, or who knows maybe even Honduras if they get their act straight.

Honduras VS El Salvador in the Olympics

El Salvador’s fans could not be happier right now due to having defeated the mighty USA team and therefore increasing their chances of going to the Olympics. Honduras on the other hand has not been playing that well and the best example is their past game against Mexico where they started the game by completely dominating the game at first later to loose their enthusiasm after Mexico’s first goal. Hopefully in this next match Honduras will let star their player Andy Najar do his magic in the field which should make for a better match.

3/26/12

Honduras humiliated by 3-0 loss

Alan Pulido of Mexico was the man of the match, with his triple and with his command of the field. At the beginning of the match Honduras was pressing hard for an early score, but after the first Mexican goal they lost all hope and Mexico ran the show.

Cesar Garcia in tryouts with PR Islanders

There are a lot of Bachateros rooting for Cesar Garcia that's for sure, because this could mean that the Puerto Rico Islanders could be the ticket to Cesar Garcia to play in the Copa de Oro and Concacaf Champions ligue. Fana already played in most Concacaf tournaments but this could be the year when the D.R could have the most number of players at Gold Cup and Concachampions. Let's not forget about Lloyd whom plays with Arabe Unido of Panama, whose team might clasify to those tournaments too.

3/23/12

Dominican Republic vs Puerto Rico Classic

The Dominican Republic will have a tough qualification for the Caribbean Cup wich will be played next August 25 to the 29, due to the fact that not only will they have to face a PuertoRican team that have at their disposal experienced players from mainland USA, and if the DR make it to the next stage they will have to face an even stronger Hatian team. The adventages that the DR has are that the matches will be played at home and that they have at their disposal European players, the same they called upon to face El Salvador.

USA defeats Cuba 6-0 in pre Olympic

Joe Corona in his first game with the USA team, performed a hat trick against an inofensive  Cuba that offered little in the match. Cuba saw the expulsion of their player Dairo macias therefore making it easier for the Stars and Stripes team to do as they pleased. Agudelo, Adu and last Cuban player Arturo Diz scored with the last Cuban player performing an autogoal. USA will play against Canada at the same field on Saturday.

3/21/12

Neymar will play for Barcelona in 2014

Whom paid part of the 59 million Euros for the change.

Puerto Rico which was ranked at 113 in the FIFA world ranking, went down to place 134, right above the Dominican Republic. Puerto Rico recently lost two matches against Nicaragua by scores of 1-0 and 3-1 played in Nicaragua.

El Salvador looses FIFA ranking

The loss of ranking is due to their loss against Estonia, in a game which was played in California. El Salvador stands to go down four spaces from fifty four to fifty eight, which is still respectable. It seems Estonia is not as easy to beat as Caribbean teams, as the local news papers in El Salvador stated.

Spain VS Puerto Rico?

That's right my friends, Spain declined to play a friendly against Bolivia and will instead play a friendly match against Puerto Rico in August of this year. The game will not be held at the Loubriel Stadium because the Spanish players prefer to play at natural grass fields.

During this time Argentina was going through an unpopular dictatorial regime which was becoming more and more unpopular. This was one of the reasons as to why Argentina paid the Peruvian government with 14,000 tons of grain and other loans in order to have the Peruvian National Football team sell themselves out and let themselves be defeated 6-0 in a game that left many doubtful. The Peruvian government through the “Condor Plan” was also was given help in getting rid of the opposition, thirteen of which were sent to secret prisons in Argentina whom were eventually freed with the help of the relatives and the international community. The government of France paid for the tickets to have the prisoners flown out of Argentina whom eventually came back to Peru at the end of the Peruvian dictatorship of Francisco Morales Bermudez.

2/6/12

Coach Clemente Hernandez's reccord

Not much credit is given to the Dominican national team football coach Clemente Hernandez, but given that his record with the national team has been the best in at least a decade there are grounds for his accomplishments to be mentioned, given the fact that the resources given to train a decent national team are meager to say the least. The Football coach whom is of Cuban nationality, together with the great effort of the National team players specially the goalkeeper Miguel Lloyd whom currently plays with the Arab United FC in Panama, were able to stop a massacre of the Dominican team at the colossal Cuscatlán stadium in El Salvador. This was to the dismay of the Salvadorian fans that expected the Salvadorian squad, to soundly beat the less experienced Dominican National Soccer team. The coach currently has a record with the Dominican Football team of 7-3-2.

2/5/12

The game was mostly controlled by the Cule team in which Messi showed his usual magic and Tello on his first official game with the first team scored for the 1-0. Messi scored at the minute 72 for the 2-0 which would not last for too long due to Vela scoring for Real Sociedad for the honor goal and a score of 2-1 at minute 74. In the last minutes of the game Barcelona lost their steam and seemed to be satisfied by the 2-1 score, but Real Sociedad would not give up and made for an more lively end of the game.

!!Hasta la Vista Mourinho!!

It looks like Mourinho got tired of the Real Madrid Fans and the Spanish press because he wants to quit the helms of the Spanish team and go to the Premier League the playing style of which he claims to like better. He claims that the team management cares too much about what the press says, and the fact that the press has published so much bad publicity about him is not helping one bit in my opinion.

Mexico VS Venezuela

Even though the two squads will be made up of non international figures, nonetheless it will be an interesting match due to the fact that Venezuela will be looking to better the number of matches which they have won against Mexico, due to the fact that Mexico has beaten the Venezuelan teams throughout the decades. Mexico has their own reasons which are the fact that the last matches against the Vinotinto, has not been to their advantage which shows the growth of the South American team.

The Barcelona VS Real Madrid Classic

Get the Popcorn, soda and other finger foods of your liking ready for the best game of the month. Now why do I consider the 2nd game between Barcelona and Real Madrid the best game of the month? Well my friends this is due to the fact that CR7 must prove once and for all that Barcelona and Messi have nothing for him to fear and the allegations that he cant play against Barca are unfounded. Today’s game will indeed be a redeemer not only for Ronaldo but also Mourino whom must prove that he has what it takes to make a wining team even if it means to make changes that are painful for him but necessary like taking out Pepe whom has been useless lately and is doing a better job at eroding the image of Real Madrid than helping the team..

Whether it is true or not, all Followers of the beautiful game expect more from him and hopefully he’ll do a better job at getting his groove back, for the next game against Barcelona.

It’s a new year and with it come very exciting events like the Copa Libertadores in South America, and the Concacaf female eliminatory rounds for countries like the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Guatemala, Mexico and Jamaica just to name a few which will make for a very interesting round of matches. Yesterday Barcelona beat Osasuna 4-0 in a game in which Messi did not intend to play due to catching the flu, but which he joined later in the game to score twice for the team.
