Barcelona FC VS Atletico de Madrid

Barcelona FC will be facing Atletico de Madrid for the vuelta game, of the Supercopa of Spain at Camp Nou at 5:00 PM EST or 23:00 hr Spain time. This will be another exciting game in which the just tranfered Villa will be facing his former team mates and also the return of the recently injured Messi.

Salvadorian Football players banned

22 Salvadorian Football players were suspended due to an ongoing investigation, by the Salvadorian national Football federation due to possible irregularities in which Football players may have received large sums of cash, in order for them to let themselves be beaten. Unfortunately for the players they will not be able to participate in any international or national Football matches until further notice. It is rumored that each of the players may have received close to $10K Dollars to let themselves be beaten while representing El Salvador VS. the USA and while playing for their current teams.

The Dominican Republic Fell to Costa Rica 4-0

During the Wednesday night game against Costa Rica the Dominican squad played a good first half creating some dangerous moves against the Costa Ricans , whom were not playing their best. The second half was another story, during which Borges scored twice at minutes 48 and 78, and Herrera at 73 for the 3-0. The last goal was scored by Castillo just before the end of the match with the biggest number of attendees in a Football game in the Dominican Republic in recent times, at close to nine thousand attendees.

Things that the DR could improve on, would be to get a new coach in order to reach new heights in Football.

The Dominican national team needs more friendly games, in order for the players to play cohesively and gain more experience against other national teams.

Overall the “Bachata Boys” played a good games specially the first half, given the facts that they played against a more experienced and better equipped Costa Rican team.

Santo Domingo Excited about Football Game

There is a lot on excitement in Santo Domingo today the likes of which has never been seen before, as it has been for about two weeks due to the Football match against Costa Rica. Free tickets have been given to hundreds of football loving kids, from poor neighborhoods in the capital city on behalf of various companies and organizations. The Quisqueya stadium which has seen quite a few Football games, as when the national team played there  for the 1968 Mexico Olympic games qualifiers , in 1973 against Cerro Porteño of Uruguay, and also between Puerto Rican teams Roosevelt and Quintana and Dominican clubs. Quisqueya stadium is a baseball stadium home to the last baseball Caribbean series, and was conditioned in order to meet FIFA standards for the friendly game. The last time the Dominican national team played an international game in the capital city of Santo Domingo, was in 2004 against Trinidad and Tobago in the now deteriorated national stadium. The match will start at 8:00 PM Santo Domingo time, which during the summer is the same as US Eastern Standard Time or EST.

Dominican Republic “Top Ten” in Concacaf

Dominican Republic reaches the highest Fifa ranking in their history, by reaching the Concacaf top ten by going up 4 places with 421 points, for the first time in their Football playing history. This new rank means that they are ranked a modest 86th in the world, from 90 in the last published ranking.This high ranking is due incredibly to a lack of games played, while other teams lost many games which superficially elevates the DR in the Fifa ranking. The real football playing level of the DR, will be seen when they play against Costa Rica on Wednesday the 14^th of this month, with all the best players they currently have, with the exception of Mariano that plays for Real Madrid C and won’t be present. The USA which is now ranked 19th in the world and has 960 points was able to displace Mexico as the "Papa of Concacaf", by reaching the number one spot in the regional ranking and sending Mexico to the number two spot.

Heinz Barmettler signs with Real Valladolid

Heinz Barmettler, the Dominican defender and member of the Dominican national Football team made history, by first being on tryouts with Spanish first division team Real Valladolid and later signing a two season deal with the team for an unknown sum. The Dominican Swiss player whom played against teams like Real Madrid, AC Milan and Bayern Munich at the Champions league, is more than happy with the signing as well as the Dominican fans whom have shown their support by flooding the Real Valladolid’s social sites, in order to show their support. It is unknown if the defender will be playing against Costa Rica on the Dominican side, on the 14^th of this month of August.
