Chelsea VS Basel

Mourihno and the “Blues” will have another chance at leaving their mark, at the champions together like in old times starting at 2:45 EST. Even though Mourihno left Chelsea more than six years ago, he claims to have had a part in them winning their last champions league title in 2012. Basel is not a team to belittle since they have a good chance at showing a good performance, in this game and the champions as a whole.

Barcelona VS Ajax

Today at 2:45 EST at their home stadium, Barcelona will be facing Ajax for the very first time in a champions league, and in a game where Barsa is the definite favorite to win. Barsa has won the champions league on numerous occasions, but this will be Tata Martino’s first try at a champions league competition therefore, he may not be as confident on the field as he was commanding teams in South America.

Real Madrid VS Galatasaray

Today at 2:45 PM Real Madrid will face a Galatasaray that is in dire needs, to show that they still have it together, as they are struggling at their home country’s league competition. Drogba is doing his best to lift his team’s spirits, by saying that Real Madrid could be shocked by Galatasaray. Bale will not be playing from the beginning of the match, but may join the festivities in the second half.

Honduras VS Panama

Today at 9:00PM EST at the Tiburcio Carias  national stadium in Tegucigalpa, the national Football teams from Honduras and Panama will be facing each other for a place, in order to qualify for the world cup at Brazil 2014. The Panamanian team must win tonight in order to keep the hopes alive, for a chance at their first ever world cup appearance at Brazil 2014. On the other hand Honduras still will have other options, if they loose to the Panamanians tonight. Honduras will use virtually the same team they used to defeat Mexico last Friday, with the difference that Costly will be playing besides Bentson from the beginning of the match for a 4-4-2 formation.

Mexican Bad Luck

The chances that Mexico will beat the stars and Stripes team tomorrow are slim to none, since Mexico has never beaten team USA at the Columbus Crew stadium in Michigan. Another reason for the Mexican demise, will be that Mexico has the worst team in years, but team USA is solid and has only lost one game and that was against the very angry Yankee hating Costa Rican team, that wanted blood for having to play a game in a snow storm, and which they claim as the reason as to why they lost to team USA 2-1. The demoralized Mexican team lost to longtime rival Honduras on Friday, in what is now called “El Aztecazo”, the second one in history since the first one was accomplished against the Mexicans, at their own turf at the hands of the Costa Ricans in 2001.

New Zealand VS Dominican Republic

New Zealand has asked for a friendly game against the Dominican Republic to be held in October of this year, in preparation for their eminent game against Mexico in order to qualify for the FIFA 2014 world cup. The Quisqueya Stadium will not be available for this game, since this game would coincide with the Dominican baseball winter season. The Dominican Football Federation will be asking the Olympic authorities to repair the Felix Sanchez national stadium, to enable it to be used for this friendly game which would be held in October.

Last chance for Aztecazo

Tomorrow the national football teams from Mexico and Honduras will face each other, at the gargantuan Azteca stadium in Mexico City. Due to the weak performance shown so far by Mexico in 2013, this may be the last chance in many years for the Honduran team to beat the Mexicans at their own home turf. Another fact that will be at play is that if the Mexican team which is considered historically a stronger team, does not score in the first half hour the Mexican attendees at the stadium may turn against the Mexican team and their head coach “Chepo De La Torre” which may prove disheartening for the Mexican team. To make matters worse for the Mexicans, most of their star players that play overseas had not had the chance to play as much as they should like “Chicharito”, whom has only played about 17 minutes with Manchester United in part due to injuries. On the other hand Honduras comes with a team made up of players that had the chance to represent their European teams and with many minutes played like Anderlecht’s Andy Najar and Celtic’s Emilio Izaguirre.
