Today at 9:30 PM EST, three
Football matches will be held in Central America and the Caribbean that will
decide the fate of the former Footballing giant Mexico, and the able Panamanian
Football team. The much hated Mexican team (in Central America that is) will be
facing Costa Rica at their National Stadium in San Jose, for the last chance to
the half ticket to Brazil 2014. But getting that ticket as we may say won’t be
easy, since they depend on the Panamanian team to lose to the USA and the
Honduran team to lose to Jamaica, so in a way it’s out of their hands but of course
they put themselves in that situation by not defeating teams which they
themselves consider inferior. The Jamaicans will be playing for honor at the
National stadium against Honduras, since they are already eliminated but will
be sure to give a good fight. One thing is for sure, the Central Americans are
united in the feeling of hate towards the Mexican Football team, and Mexican
journalists that in their opinion, give the Mexican team more credit than they
deserve. Mexican sports journalists have gone to the extreme of even claiming
that the Costa Rican team sold themselves to the Hondurans, in the game in
which they lost 1-0 at San Pedro Sula in Honduras, and such comment not only
outraged the Hondurans but also the Costa Rican coach Pinto, and the Costa
Rican players. The Central Americans show such animosity against the Mexicans
to say the least due to the lack of respect exerted on them by the Mexicans for
many decades in which Central American players were made a fool of by the
Mexican sports media. I for sure will watch one game on cable TV and the two
others on separate laptops, so as not to miss a thing.
